MiLB: Pensacola Blue Wahoos Set to Join Minnesota Twins Farm System in 2019

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos announced on Monday, October 1st that they have signed a Player Development Contract with the Minnesota Twins for the 2019 and 2020 seasons. After the announcement that the Wahoos and Reds split ways, the Wahoos became the newest free-agent in the PDC world. From what began as multiple options came down to two teams, the San Diego Padres and the Minnesota Twins.

"This is a rare time when there are no losers. The Padres and Twins are first class organizations," said Blue Wahoos president Jonathan Griffith in the release. "One would end up playing in the picturesque downtown Pensacola's Blue Wahoo Stadium and the other in a brand new 44 million ballpark in Amarillo, Texas. Both are great venues in great cities."

"This was our first time going through this process it was beyond expectations," added Griffith. "The Padres and Twins were both great. We learned so much during the process on what we can do better based on how they both operate. In an operational area such as speeding up food delivery, the Padres still offered to share their processes with us even after learning the decision to sign with the Twins. The Twins, like the Padres, are committed to a partnership that will help the Wahoos continue to get better."

The Twins were previously with the Chattanooga Lookouts from 2015-2018 winning two Southern League Championships with the organization. Pensacola is going to gain what should be a strong team for 2019 after two of the teams' clubs won their respective championships; Fort Myers Miracle (2018 Florida State League Champions) and Elizabethton Twins (2018 Appalachian League Champions).

"We are thrilled to sign a two-year player development contract with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos," said Director, Minor League Operations Jeremy Zoll in the team release. "Their owners and leadership team have a clear commitment to positively impacting the community in Pensacola, and we believe that the values of the Twins and Blue Wahoos could not be better aligned. We are looking forward to being true partners to Pensacola in both business and baseball operations and are excited for our AA players to have the opportunity to call the Pensacola community their home."

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos will be affiliated with the Elizabethton Twins (Rookie), Cedar Rapids Kernels (Class A), Fort Myers Miracle (Class A-Advanced), and Rochester Red Wings (Triple-A). The 2019 Southern League Season kicks off for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on April 4th as the Wahoos take on the Mobile BayBears in Mobile, AL. (Koelle,2018)

Supercross: Chad Reed Tallies First Podium Finish Since 2017

It wasn't a victory for Chad Reed in Detroit but it was a podium finish for the driver from Kurri Kurri, Australia. His first podium since Glendale in 2017 and the 132nd career podium finish. The finish is just another page in the story for Reed and 2019 has been one hell of a story so far. Reed has already earned more top 10 finishes this season then he did last season. The first top-five finish Reed earned this year already was more than he netted in 2018. Before San Diego, Reed had not finished inside the top five since Toronto in 2017. Will Christien denoted to Reed during the post-race interview that he had not been a fan of the new "Triple Crown" format but will take a third place finish. "Honestly just starts and finally riding to your ability," Reed told NBCSN. "It's been a long time. For the guy who has stood up here more than anyone in the sport, you know I take it on personally as just feeling less about myself for not getting up here and

MiLB: Mobile BayBears Look for Walk-Off in Final Season in Mobile

On Thursday (April 4th), the Mobile BayBears kick off their final season in Mobile, Alabama. The team will relocate to Madison, Alabama after this season and the BayBears are looking to finish in walk-off style. The BayBears have an opportunity in 2019 to tie the Montgomery Biscuits with four Southern League titles. The organization is currently fourth on the all-time SLCS victories. One last season at Hank Aaron Stadium, is this the year they walk-off with their fifth Southern League championship? In 2018, the Mobile BayBears were hiding in the bushes during the 2018 Walk-Off Sports Report Southern League Playoff Watch but the organization was eliminated from playoff contention rather early in the campaign. The organization finished 66-70, fourth in the South Division. The BayBears were second in runs scored per game and runs batted in during the 2018 season but the rest of the batting statistics were pretty low. Things just didn't add up for the organization and in 2019 they
