Relief pitcher Addison Reed will join the Minnesota Twins beginning in 2018, the organization revealed on Monday. The Twins signed the 29-year old to a two year contract worth $16.75 million. Reed moves from the Boston Red Sox where he 1-1. He also pitched for the New York Mets where he had a 1-2 record. Combined, Reed pitched 76 innings in 2017 along with securing a 2.84 ERA with a total of 76 strikeouts and 15 walks. In 21 attempts, he had 19 saves.
In his career as a pitcher, Reed has an 18-21 record with four teams since 2011 (Chicago White Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks, New York Mets, and most recently the Boston Red Sox). In those seven seasons, Reed has pitched a total of 402.2 innings and has saved 81% of the games he's had a chance to.
With the addition of Reed, the Twins pitching lineup is looking powerful for the 2018 season. Already adding Fernando Rodney from the Arizona Diamondbacks and Zach Duke from the St. Louis Cardinals, things are starting to kindle for a possible playoff run that goes further than the run last season where the Twins were defeated by the Yankees in the A.L. Wild Card Game.
