WWE: 2018 Royal Rumble Preview & Predictions

On Sunday in the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, the 2018 Royal Rumble takes place. The annual PPV will feature the 31st Royal Rumble match, the first Women's Royal Rumble match, and a total of four title matches. The PPV is one of the longest running PPV events dating all the way back to 1988. The event has annually been held at the end of the month of January, recently the same Sunday as the NFL Pro Bowl. Here is a preview for Sunday's Royal Rumble along with our predictions.

2018 Royal Rumble Match - 30 Participants

The Royal Rumble has grown to become one of the best matches during the year for the WWE. It's a fan favorite and every year it becomes one of the best nights for one superstar. For those of you who are new to the WWE, the winner of the Royal Rumble gets a title opportunity at the upcoming Wrestlemania. Again this year, superstars from both RAW and Smackdown Live will be represented in the match. Despite the majority of the list of participants begin members of the active roster, WWE always has surprise entrants in the event.

Currently, 13 of the 30 entrants have declared they will be in the match with the rest of them being filled on Sunday when the bell rings to start the match. Elias was the first superstar to declare he will be one of the 30 while The Miz most recently declared. With the unknown of knowing who will be in the event, it makes it hard to predict a winner in the event. We combed through both the RAW and Smackdown Live rosters and determined who we felt would be the winner of the event.

Predicted Winner - Shinsuke Nakamura
  • Shinsuke Nakamura wins the Royal Rumble match and goes on to face the winner of the AJ Styles/Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn match at Wrestlemania. Either way, an excellent match would take place at the show of shows in New Orleans.

WWE Universal Championship Triple Threat Match - Brock Lesner (c) vs. Braun Strowman vs. Kane

The build-up for this match has been massive, no puns intended. Brock Lesner has held the title since he defeated Goldberg at Wrestlemania XXIII. He's held the title for almost 300 days but the reign will have to go through two monsters in the form of Kane and Braun Strowman.

Strowman has built an empire is just a few months. The Superstar from Sherrills Ford, NC is seeking his first singles championship in the WWE. He debuted as a member of the Wyatt Family on December 19th, 2014 and broke away from the group when the RAW and Smackdown Live split brands. Strowman has been in the main-event picture now for a while and as one of the biggest stars on the roster, we think he decides when he's out of the picture and on Sunday, that could mean winning the title and never letting it go.

Kane is looking for his first singles championship 2010 when he won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as a member of the Smackdown brand. Since that year, Kane has been on-and-off WWE television while working toward becoming the Mayor of Knox County in TN.

When Kane came back though he went head-to-head with Braun Strowman and over the last few weeks the two have added Brock Lesnar to the equation. There are no champions advantage in this equation either and being as the champion doesn't have to be pinned to lose the title, which ultimately puts the champion at a disadvantage. The match will definitely be one to watch and we predict a title change.

Predicted Winner and NEW WWE Universal Champion - Braun Strowman

WWE Championship Handicap Match - A.J. Styles (c) vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn

The feud has seen Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens vs. the Smackdown authority figures in the shape of Shane McMahon. On Sunday, both Owens and Zayn can take the title away from the current champion AJ Styles. Styles defeated Jinder Mahal for the title on Smackdown Live back on November 7th, 2017 in Manchester England.

Neither Kevin Owens nor Sami Zayn has held the WWE Championship. Owens has won the WWE Universal Championship while Zayn is still seeking his first main-roster championship. Should the two win the championship, it'll be only the third time the WWE Title will be held by two people at once*.

Two on one will be tough to overcome especially for "The Phenomenal One" but should he survive the handicap match, he might have to battle in the Elimination Chamber within the next few months in order to main-event Wrestlemania. Whoever loses this match though, we can predict will be involved in the Royal Rumble match later in the night.

Predicted Winner and Still WWE Champion - A.J. Styles

(*- The WWE Championship was held by Rey Mysterio and CM Punk along with John Cena and CM Punk during one night in 2011.)

Women's Royal Rumble Match - 30 Participants

For the first time in the history of the Royal Rumble, there will be two Royal Rumble Matches during the night. The second one will involve 30 women who will battle to decide who will face the brand's respective Women's Champion (Charlotte *Smackdown Live* or Alexa Bliss *RAW*). Another unpredictable match that could feature some returns from legendary women wrestlers and it could also feature some debuts and call-ups from to the main roster.

Asuka is still undefeated and we honestly don't see anything change on Sunday. We believe Asuka will continue her dominance and win the first ever Women's Royal Rumble Match on Sunday.

Predicted Winner - Asuka

WWE RAW Tag-Team Championship Match - Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan (c) vs. "The Bar": Cesaro and Sheamus

This has been a back-and-forth affair lately, replacing an injured Dean Ambrose with Jason Jordan. Rollins and Jordan secured the title on the Christmas edition of Monday Night RAW from "The Bar". Now the two are putting in their rematch clause and are seeking to win the titles back. In recent weeks, Jason Jordan has interrupted matches involving either Cesaro, Sheamus, or both of them in tag matches. Seth Rollins meanwhile is attempting to teach Jordan "what comes around, goes around.".

Cesaro and Sheamus have been the unlikely duo but has been the strong tag-team that RAW has been missing. On Sunday, the two will win back their titles after Rollins and Jordan turn on each other and ultimately costing one or the other the victory.

Predicted Winner and NEW RAW Tag-Team Champions - "The Bar": Cesaro & Sheamus

2-out-3 Falls Match for the WWE Smackdown Live Tag-Team Championship - The Usos (c) vs. Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin

The Usos won the title from "The New Day" back on October 8th, 2017 and have held the titles ever since with a couple successful defenses. Chad Gable is seeking to win his second tag-team championship (he won the titles with Jason Jordan back in 2016). Shelton Benjamin is looking to win his first title in his return to the WWE.

Gable and Benjamin both thought they had the titles a few weeks ago until the referee revealed that the wrong guy was tagged and the match continued with "The Usos" ultimately winning the match. The Smackdown brand is missing the main event type tag-teams like RAW but with "The Usos" pulling the veteran card. After multiple failed attempts at winning the title, Gable & Benjamin will finally earn the titles by virtue of pin-fall.

Predicted Winner and NEW WWE Smackdown Live Tag-Team Champions - Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin

On January 12th, 2018, The Walk-Off Report was launched. The Walk-Off Report will be your new home for Minor/Major League Baseball, College Football, and other sports as the year continues. Currently, we will cover certain teams in the above-listed sports that are listed below. It all begins with the Rookie Class up in Elizabethton Tennessee and builds up to the Majors in both Georgia with the Atlanta Braves and in Minnesota with Minnesota Twins. Supercross: Chad Reed Tallies First Podium Finish Since 2017

It wasn't a victory for Chad Reed in Detroit but it was a podium finish for the driver from Kurri Kurri, Australia. His first podium since Glendale in 2017 and the 132nd career podium finish. The finish is just another page in the story for Reed and 2019 has been one hell of a story so far. Reed has already earned more top 10 finishes this season then he did last season. The first top-five finish Reed earned this year already was more than he netted in 2018. Before San Diego, Reed had not finished inside the top five since Toronto in 2017. Will Christien denoted to Reed during the post-race interview that he had not been a fan of the new "Triple Crown" format but will take a third place finish. "Honestly just starts and finally riding to your ability," Reed told NBCSN. "It's been a long time. For the guy who has stood up here more than anyone in the sport, you know I take it on personally as just feeling less about myself for not getting up here and

MiLB: Mobile BayBears Look for Walk-Off in Final Season in Mobile

On Thursday (April 4th), the Mobile BayBears kick off their final season in Mobile, Alabama. The team will relocate to Madison, Alabama after this season and the BayBears are looking to finish in walk-off style. The BayBears have an opportunity in 2019 to tie the Montgomery Biscuits with four Southern League titles. The organization is currently fourth on the all-time SLCS victories. One last season at Hank Aaron Stadium, is this the year they walk-off with their fifth Southern League championship? In 2018, the Mobile BayBears were hiding in the bushes during the 2018 Walk-Off Sports Report Southern League Playoff Watch but the organization was eliminated from playoff contention rather early in the campaign. The organization finished 66-70, fourth in the South Division. The BayBears were second in runs scored per game and runs batted in during the 2018 season but the rest of the batting statistics were pretty low. Things just didn't add up for the organization and in 2019 they
