MiLB: Chattanooga Lookouts Drop Doubleheader and Series to Mississippi

The Chattanooga Lookouts fell short in both games of Saturday's (August 18th) doubleheader in Pearl, Mississippi. Chattanooga lost to Mississippi in the first game 1-0 and lost in the second game 10-7.

The first game was a pitching game with only a total of eight hits among both teams. Travis Demeritte was the only player who scored during the game giving Mississippi their first shutout victory since August 1st against the Birmingham Barons. It's the first shutout loss since June 30th against Tennessee for the Lookouts.

It is the first loss for Sean Poppen since July 9th against Jacksonville. Poppen is now 5-6 as a pitcher for the Chattanooga Lookouts.

Game two was a hit fest with a total of 24 hits combined among both teams. Capitalization was the key in game two as Mississippi capitalized on 10 of those 12 hits to earn their 58th victory of 2018.

The Lookouts kicked off the second game with an early lead scoring two runs in the first. A four-run third inning put Mississippi ahead 4-2 and Mississippi never looked back.

Mississippi would add one more run in the fourth putting it 5-2. A comeback was coming in the fifth as the Lookouts scored two runs making it 5-4 but Mississippi would add some nails to the coffin on the home half of the fifth making it 8-4.

The Lookouts would look to pull another comeback in the top of the sixth with three runs but again, Mississippi would add some security to their lead with two runs. A ground out to first by Brent Rooker would seal Mississippi's victory.

Supercross: Chad Reed Tallies First Podium Finish Since 2017

It wasn't a victory for Chad Reed in Detroit but it was a podium finish for the driver from Kurri Kurri, Australia. His first podium since Glendale in 2017 and the 132nd career podium finish. The finish is just another page in the story for Reed and 2019 has been one hell of a story so far. Reed has already earned more top 10 finishes this season then he did last season. The first top-five finish Reed earned this year already was more than he netted in 2018. Before San Diego, Reed had not finished inside the top five since Toronto in 2017. Will Christien denoted to Reed during the post-race interview that he had not been a fan of the new "Triple Crown" format but will take a third place finish. "Honestly just starts and finally riding to your ability," Reed told NBCSN. "It's been a long time. For the guy who has stood up here more than anyone in the sport, you know I take it on personally as just feeling less about myself for not getting up here and

One last season at Hank Aaron Stadium, is this the year they walk-off with their fifth Southern League championship? In 2018, the Mobile BayBears were hiding in the bushes during the 2018 Walk-Off Sports Report Southern League Playoff Watch but the organization was eliminated from playoff contention rather early in the campaign. The organization finished 66-70, fourth in the South Division. The BayBears were second in runs scored per game and runs batted in during the 2018 season but the rest of the batting statistics were pretty low. Things just didn't add up for the organization and in 2019 they
