MiLB: The Walk-Off Sports Report to Cover 2018 Southern League Playoffs

The Walk-Off Sports Report is proud to announce that we will cover the entire Southern League Playoffs beginning Wednesday, September 5th, 2018. The Walk-Off Sports Report will recap all games in both the South and North Division Championship Series and then will complete it with recaps of the Southern League Championship Series.

The Jackson Generals, who won the North Division first-half championship, will play either the winner of the second-half championship or the second place finishing team should Jackson win the second-half. That series will begin on September 5th in Jackson, Tennessee.

The Biloxi Shuckers, who won the South Division first-half championship, will play either the winner of the second-half championship or the second place finishing team should Biloxi win the second-half. That series will also begin on September 5th from Biloxi, Mississippi.

The South Division won the All-Star Game in June giving the South home-field advantage in the SLCS. That means games three, four, and five will be in the South Divison Champions home stadium. Games four and five will come if necessary.

The Walk-Off Sports Report will also release a Playoff Preview Article on September 4th. Following the playoffs, the focus shifts to coverage of the 2019 Southern League Season featuring the final season of the Mobile BayBears, who will be moving to North Alabama following 2019.

Supercross: Chad Reed Tallies First Podium Finish Since 2017

It wasn't a victory for Chad Reed in Detroit but it was a podium finish for the driver from Kurri Kurri, Australia. His first podium since Glendale in 2017 and the 132nd career podium finish. The finish is just another page in the story for Reed and 2019 has been one hell of a story so far. Reed has already earned more top 10 finishes this season then he did last season. The first top-five finish Reed earned this year already was more than he netted in 2018. Before San Diego, Reed had not finished inside the top five since Toronto in 2017. Will Christien denoted to Reed during the post-race interview that he had not been a fan of the new "Triple Crown" format but will take a third place finish. MiLB: Mobile BayBears Look for Walk-Off in Final Season in Mobile

On Thursday (April 4th), the Mobile BayBears kick off their final season in Mobile, Alabama. The team will relocate to Madison, Alabama after this season and the BayBears are looking to finish in walk-off style. The BayBears have an opportunity in 2019 to tie the Montgomery Biscuits with four Southern League titles. The organization is currently fourth on the all-time SLCS victories. One last season at Hank Aaron Stadium, is this the year they walk-off with their fifth Southern League championship? In 2018, the Mobile BayBears were hiding in the bushes during the 2018 Walk-Off Sports Report Southern League Playoff Watch but the organization was eliminated from playoff contention rather early in the campaign. The organization finished 66-70, fourth in the South Division. The BayBears were second in runs scored per game and runs batted in during the 2018 season but the rest of the batting statistics were pretty low.
