MiLB: The Walk-Off Sports Report Southern League Playoff Watch (August 19th, 2018)

The Southern League is going down an interesting road in the form of playoffs. Here is a look at how August 19th, 2018 affected the playoff picture. 

North Division Playoff Picture

The North Division-leading Montgomery Biscuits snapped their two-game losing streak by defeating the Chattanooga Lookouts Sunday in Montgomery. With the victory, Montgomery is three wins away from eliminating the Chattanooga Lookouts from playoff contention. 

Montgomery wasn't the only team to win Sunday night. Tennessee defeated Jackson 3-1 moving Tennesse back into second and Jackson back into third. Birmingham defeated Jacksonville 6-3 putting them in third. Montgomery needs nine victories to clinch their spot in the North Division playoffs.

South Division Playoff Picture

The South Division-leading Pensacola Blue Wahoos lost to second place Biloxi Shuckers on Sunday 4-3 giving the Shuckers and opportunity to sweep the South Division Championship. Third and fourth place Mississippi and Mobile will play a doubleheader on Monday. 

Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp were defeated by Birmingham which drops their elimination number down to five.

MiLB: Nashville Sounds Announce Weekly Promotion Schedule

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club has announced its weekly promotions for the 2018 season. The 70-game home schedule at First Tennessee Park includes player-inspired t-shirt giveaways, fireworks shows, ticket discounts, food and drink discounts, social media guests, special jerseys, musical guests, military appreciation, and family days. MiLB: 2019 Southern League Schedules Announced

The 2019 Southern League Baseball scheduled has been revealed. All 10 Southern League clubs are scheduled to place 140 total games, split between 70 home and road contests. The season is cut in half with two halves being split by the 2019 Southern League All-Star Game in Biloxi, Mississippi. The Biloxi Shuckers, Chattanooga Lookouts, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, Mobile BayBears, and Tennessee Smokies will kick off their season at home on Thursday, April 4th, 2019. On Wednesday, April 10th, 2019 Jackson Generals, Birmingham Barons, Montgomery Biscuits, Mississippi Braves, and Pensacola Blue Wahoos kick off their home season.
