MiLB: Biloxi Shuckers Clinch Second-Half Championship

The Biloxi Shuckers have clinched the second-half championship in the Southern League South Division. The Pensacola Blue Wahoos lost to the Tennessee Smokies securing the second-half championship for the Shuckers. The Blue Wahoos though will be the Shuckers challenger in the SLSDS beginning on Wednesday. They get in via the South Division Wild Card with the second-best overall record in the division.

The Biloxi Shuckers will return to the postseason for the first time since 2015. During that series, the organization battled against the Chattanooga Lookouts in five games, coming up short. Fittingly, the Biloxi Shuckers faced off against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos during that season. Biloxi swept the Blue Wahoos in that series three games to none.

The Series kicks off in Biloxi on Wednesday, September 5th at MGM Stadium. Games one and two will be in Biloxi and three will be in Montgomery. Four and five will return to MGM Stadium if they're necessary. (Koelle,2018)

MiLB: Chicago White Sox Commitment to the Future Results in Strong Season for Birmingham

The Birmingham Barons ended a two-year long streak of finishing last in the North Division this season. Despite not contending for the championship, 2018 was still a strong season filled with positives for the Barons to take into the 2019 season. The team has nabbed some of the higher end prospects which have created a well-balanced team with some standout prospects.  "Two years ago the White Sox made a commitment to trading veteran players for high-caliber prospects, in addition, continuing to draft highly rated amateur players," Barons General Manager Jonathan Nelson told The Walk-Off Sports Report.  "This commitment has been evident here in Birmingham on the field and across all levels of the White Sox organization. In 2018 fans in Birmingham witnessed one of the top prospects in all of Minor League Baseball in Eloy Jimenez along...
